Elegant Editing

 Hello Bloggers!

For this week at school at the start of every writing session we start off with a piece of writing that Miss Roberts puts up on the T.V. The piece of writing has no punctuation but it said what punctuation was needed at the bottom of the page. Then in our books we have to copy down the story and add all the punctuation needed. Do you do this at your school? I really enjoy this task I find that I learn lots.

Here is the one we did yesterday

Typical Translation

 Hello bloggers!

For math this week we have been working on transformation so Mrs. Atkinson our teacher gave us a slide to work on. In the slide, there is transformation rotation and reflection translation is when a shape is slid in a certain direction, rotation is a transformation in which an image is turned around a point, a reflection is an image flipped over a line.

Organic Vs GMO

 Hello Bloggers

Last week and this week for literacy we have been focusing on persuasive writing. Our teacher gave us a task where we can choose if we think Organic is better or GMO (genetically modified organisms) is better I think Organic is better. Then we had to research and watch videos about the pros and the cons of each thing was. We had to write a small paragraph of which one we think is better and why. I found watching the videos and researching about it a bit boring. What do you prefer, Organic or GMO?

Here is the slide we were writing on.

Scary Shark Island

Hello bloggers

For math this week we have been working on a thing on grid paper called Shark Island where we place our left hand in the middle of the page and draw around it. Then on and around the hand-shaped, you add things to it that the slide says to do.

I really enjoyed doing the coloring of this activity. Have you ever done anything like this at school?
Here's mine I haven't finished it yet.

Potato Collector

 Hello Bloggers

Yesterday at the school zoom meeting we were told to create a potato collector, we had the choice to draw it on paper, Create it on pixel art or make it in real life. I chose to do it in real life. But the rule was that you were only allowed to use the stuff that would have been available to the Maori back then - rocks, plants, sticks, flax, shells, and leaves. I used a shell, 3 sticks, and flax. I really enjoyed creating it and tieing it all together with flax. Do you have any ideas for making a Potato collector? Here are some pictures.                                                                                                              This was my plan

And this was the real thing

Instructional Writing - How to make a cup of tea

 Hello Bloggers

This week for literacy we have been focusing on Instructional Writing. One of the things to do was write how to make a cup of tea on a template. First, we had to write what we needed to make the cup with, then we had to write the steps in order how to make it. After we had written how to do it on the template we actually made a cup of tea. Miss Roberts was making the cup of tea on the table and we all sat around the table telling her what to do. I really enjoyed writing the steps on how to make it. Do you know how to make a cup of tea?

Natural Disasters / Christchurch Earthquake

 Hello Bloggers!

For literacy the last couple of weeks we have been working on natural disasters. You could choose out of five different disasters to make an information report about it. I chose the Christchurch earthquake Because I know most about it. I really enjoyed finding the information about it and I found out that the magnitude was 6.3. Do you know anything about the Christchurch earthquake? Comment down below what you know about the Christchurch earthquake.
